Real Life Bites Arse
Owing to local developments of a headfucking nature there will be a pause for reflection at wildly inaccurate until I can recover the mindset to write about the stuff I usually do.

In the meantime, I hope all’s well with you.

hey-ho!

Odds on that God exists, says scientist
67% chance that God exists "Dr Stephen Unwin has used a 200-year-old formula to calculate the probability of the existence of an omnipotent being"
[ Jim - you might just as well cut out the middleman and do this yourself ]

Information Design and the Placebo Effect
Fantastic piece by Michael Bierut of the Design Observer site about buttons that have no function other than to make you feel like you're doing something - i.e. the "Close Door" button in the lift.
[ Thanks Jim. ]

Stuff
I haven't been here for a while. I haven't been hard at work on my dissertation or nursing sick family members.
I've not been abroad on a fact-finding mission for Amnesty International or saving the rainforests with Greenpeace.
I've been on eBay.
I'm addicted to the buzz of watching the bids come in over the week or so of your auction and of ticking down the last seconds, refreshing the page over and over watching the price go up.
I love finding a bargain, outbidding an opponent moments before the end, not leaving them enough time to counter-bid. In fact I'd be there now but I'm on the train, typing this on my psion revo - £41 another great eBay bargain!

Lost and Found. (It's all good)
Bates leaves Chelsea
"Ken Bates has stepped down as Chelsea chairman after being sidelined following Roman Abramovich's £140m takeover of the club".
Apparently Ken wants a new challenge. He saved Chelsea and started the revolution by hiring Hoddle, Gullitt, Vialli and Ranieri.
He's an obnoxious old git though so while appreciating what he's done, I'm glad to see the back of him.

Hidden Brunel bridge is rescued
"An historic Isambard Kingdom Brunel bridge is being saved after being discovered inside a modern brick road bridge about to be demolished."
Yeah, it's easily done, I'm always losing stuff like that - building something around it.
